When Do Babies Grow Eyebrows?

When Do Babies Grow Eyebrows

Most babies are born without eyebrows, but when they are about six to eight weeks old, they will have developed a fine layer of hair over their brows. This hair will gradually get thicker and darker as the baby gets older. And at six months, babies will have fully developed eyebrows. However, some babies may take a little longer to grow their eyebrows.

In this article, I’ll share the stages when babies grow eyebrows and some natural remedies to grow babies’ eyebrows.

Reasons Why Your Baby Has Light Eyebrows

Reasons Why Your Baby Has Light Eyebrows

Babies are born with only a thin line of hair above their eyes due to many reasons, including:

  • Birth time (premature, on time, or late)
  • Baby’s ethnic background
  • Hair color, thickness, and other genetic factors are inherited from the parents.

What If Your Baby Has NO Eyebrows Or Eyelashes?

Although it is rare, a newborn can have no eyebrow or eyelash hair. The most probable explanation is that the hair is so short and delicate that you cannot see it. If you believe your child was born without hair, look closely to see if you just overlooked it. Most babies develop eyebrows and eyelashes by the time they are three months old.

Eyebrows are one of the most identifiable characteristics of a person’s face. They can communicate various emotions, from anger to surprise, and play a significant role in nonverbal communication. For infants, eyebrows are also crucial to their evolving facial features. The majority of babies are born without eyebrows, but several stages come in a baby’s life when a baby grows eyebrows:

In The Womb

Some babies develop eyebrows in the womb, while some babies who lack eyebrows may have a few strands of hair in the place where their eyebrows will eventually grow; this means it will take some time for them to fill in.

Eyebrows Can Take Weeks

Normally, you will see the first wisps of hair that will eventually become eyebrows around three to four weeks after birth, although it can differ from infant to infant.

Waiting For A Year Is Normal

Although it is not unusual for an infant to not have well-defined eyebrows during their first year, eyebrows usually start to grow during the first few months of life. In some babies, this hair growth takes longer than in others. For example, my niece barely had eyebrows on her first birthday, whereas my daughter had them by the time she was two months old.

Premature And Genetic Factor Can Also Be A Reason

Several factors can influence when babies grow eyebrows. One of the most important factors is genetics. If your parents or grandparents had late-growing eyebrows, chances are your baby will too.

Hair growth is one of the many things premature babies take longer to do. If your baby were born a month early, it would likely be at least a month behind in hair growth. Some premature babies, especially those born before the 35-week mark, are even born without eyelashes or eyebrows.

You can use natural products that will not harm your baby’s eyes and help your child to get thicker eyebrows.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil promotes thick eyebrows growth in babies and is best for dry and oily skin. It keeps the baby’s eyebrows supple and well moisturized. A baby born with an unusually small pair of eyebrows can grow them with the help of coconut oil. This oil contains vitamin E, which is good for enhancing hair growth.

As a parent, I’m sure you want nothing but the best for your child’s hair or eyebrows, and finding the best hair oils might be difficult. Let’s check out the best oil for toddler hair growth

Castor Oil

Castor oil has been used for centuries to promote hair growth. The ricinoleic acid in castor oil is thought to be responsible for its hair growth-promoting properties. Castor oil for baby eyebrow growth is gaining popularity because it is a natural and safe way to improve the appearance of brows.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is a herbaceous plant used for many years to treat various diseases, including cancers, diabetes, and respiratory problems. It is also commonly used as a beauty aid by applying the gel directly to the skin or hair. One of Aloe vera’s most wonderful properties is its ability to stimulate eyebrow growth in babies born with no or no eyebrows.

Iron

Iron is perfect for a baby’s eyebrows growth. It makes thicker eyebrows naturally and fuller by enhancing their density.

Peanut

It has been proven by research that mothers who eat peanuts during pregnancy have babies with thicker eyebrows. This is because a substance called biotin, found in peanuts and other organic foods like eggs and milk, helps grow eyebrows.

Final Thoughts

Most babies are born with very little hair on their bodies, including their eyebrows. For some, this hair may not start to grow until they are a few months old. Others may have sparse hairs that eventually thicken and grow in length. It is normal for a baby’s eyebrows to take some time to grow. In most cases, they will be fully grown when the baby is a year old. If your baby does not have eyebrows, there is no need to worry.
